Overview

Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a trusted partner, tasked us with developing a next-generation Metro App for India’s Rapid Rail Transport System (RRTS), a landmark 2500 crore INR initiative. They required an innovative solution to enhance user experience, streamline operations, and boost revenue.

Challenge

NRCTC, BCG’s client, aimed to create a cutting-edge app that maximized user engagement, generated valuable data, and increased revenue from the new RRTS metro stations. The challenge was to design an intuitive user journey that seamlessly guided passengers from station to destination, providing real-time updates and personalized services.

User-Centric Design Strategy We adopted a user-centric design strategy to ensure the app met the diverse needs of RRTS passengers. This involved extensive user research, including surveys and interviews, to gather insights into passenger preferences and pain points.

To meet the needs identified, we integrated several innovative features. We implemented a seamless one-click ticketing system powered by UPI, allowing users to purchase tickets quickly and effortlessly. Understanding the importance of monetization, we strategically placed food coupons within the app with dynamic pricing, enhancing revenue generation opportunities.

We enhanced user experience with AR navigation, in-journey controls (air quality, location sharing, luggage tracking, SOS, WiFi, station master calls), real-time station timetables, and dynamic pricing for attractions and tickets. This increased passenger satisfaction and local tourism. NRCTC gained actionable insights for service and revenue improvements.

Impact

Our collaboration with BCG resulted in a highly functional and user-friendly Metro App that transformed the RRTS experience. The app's advanced features, such as one-click ticketing, AR navigation, and dynamic pricing, significantly improved passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency. The project demonstrated our ability to deliver innovative solutions that meet complex client needs and drive tangible results.
